Providence is built on a simple principle: your financial data belongs to you. This policy explains how we protect your information and what data, if any, we collect.
Effective Date: February 15, 2026
TechForProgress, doing business as Technology for Progress ("we", "us", or "our"), operates the Providence personal finance application (the "App") and the Providence website at providence.technologyforprogress.com (the "Website"). This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use the App and the Website.
Providence is designed with privacy at its core. The App does not collect, transmit, or store any of your personal or financial data on our servers. All financial information you enter into Providence — including accounts, transactions, budgets, investments, and goals — is stored exclusively on your device and, if you choose to enable iCloud sync, within your private iCloud account.
We do not require you to create an account to use Providence. There is no sign-up, login, or authentication process managed by TechForProgress.
We do not use any third-party analytics services, tracking SDKs, or advertising frameworks within the App. Providence contains no telemetry that reports your usage, behavior, or financial data back to us or any third party.
When you visit the Providence website, standard web server logs may record basic technical information such as your IP address, browser type, referring page, and pages visited. This information is used solely for maintaining the website and understanding general traffic patterns. No personal financial data is collected through the website.
If you use the support form on our website, we collect the information you voluntarily provide, including your name, email address, device type, issue category, a description of your issue, and any screenshots you attach. This information is sent to our support team via email so that we can respond to your request.
Because Providence stores all financial data locally on your device, we do not have access to it and therefore cannot use it in any way. The limited information we may receive is used only as follows:
All financial data you enter into Providence is stored locally on your device using Apple's secure data frameworks. We have implemented Providence so that your data never leaves your device or your personal iCloud account. TechForProgress does not operate any servers that receive, process, or store your financial information.
Because your data resides on your device, its security is managed through your device's built-in protections, including device passcode, Face ID, Touch ID, and device encryption. We strongly recommend that you keep your device's operating system up to date and use a strong passcode to protect your data.
Support form submissions are transmitted securely and stored only for the duration needed to resolve your support request.
Providence offers optional iCloud sync, which allows you to keep your financial data synchronized across your own Apple devices (iPhone, iPad, and Mac). When iCloud sync is enabled:
For more information about how Apple protects your iCloud data, please refer to Apple's iCloud security overview.
Providence does not integrate with any third-party analytics, advertising, or data-collection services. We do not share, sell, or otherwise disclose your personal or financial information to any third parties.
The App is distributed exclusively through the Apple App Store. Your interaction with the App Store is governed by Apple's own privacy policy and terms of service. Any purchase or download information related to the App is managed by Apple and is not accessible to us beyond what Apple provides to developers in aggregate (such as download counts and crash reports that do not identify individual users).
Providence is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Since the App does not collect any personal data or require account creation, there is minimal risk of inadvertent collection. If you believe that a child under 13 has submitted personal information through our support form, please contact us and we will promptly delete that information.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for legal, operational, or regulatory reasons. When we make changes, we will update the "Effective Date" at the top of this page and post the revised policy on our website. We encourage you to review this page periodically. Your continued use of Providence after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
If you have any questions, concerns, or requests regarding this Privacy Policy or our privacy practices, please contact us:
We will respond to privacy-related inquiries as promptly as possible.
